Lisa + Ron | Hart House wedding

Friday, June 25th, 2010

Yesterday was the wonderful weekday wedding for Lisa and Ron at the always fabulous Hart House… I love Hart House. Everything about it is amazing. The setting, the food…and don’t even get me started on how fabulous the staff is. Sonja who heads up catering is such a treasure. She is always so accommodating and willing to go the extra mile to make sure that the events go off without a hitch.

So now that we have established how much I love Hart House…let’s talk about Lisa & Ron…they are two of the most organized people I have ever met. I think they come by it honestly after having met their families! It was so nice to work with a couple that had it all figured out. Nothing was left to chance and the wedding was perfect. They made sure by hiring the oh-so-crafty Jeanette from Delovely Creative who worked her magic on Floral and Decor, a perfect dress from Melissa Sweet, yummy cake from Thomas Haas, and the charming videographers from WeddingShoot.ca.

The day was perfect..from first glance to final hora! Congrats you guys.

Friday, June 25th, 2010

Earlier this week, I was invited down to shangri la here in Vancouver to experience the launch of their fabulous new branding “it’s in out nature”. It was a fabulous event complete with wonderful entertainment, and delicious food. Being able to watch the making of the new brand commercial in their in house theater was amazing. So happy that this venue is the new home for aislewalk!

brenda + graham | brock house wedding photography

Sunday, June 20th, 2010

Yesterday was the first of many Brock House weddings for us this year. I could not have asked for a better wedding to mark the occasion. Brenda chose to get ready at Opus Hotel in Vancouver and can I say how much I love her for that? the room was amazing to shoot in and the lobby always makes for some killer images. We were doing all the bridal photos prior to the ceremony so we set up a first meet with Graham in the suite complete with make shift blindfold. So much fun!

Brenda and Graham did it their way. Gorgeous accessories from Jeweliette, stunning floral from Evan at Flowerz, and amazing personal touches that Brenda found from Etsy.

We meandered around Yaletown with the party for some shots and then off to Jerico to capture some West Coast vibe before heading back over to Brock House for the ceremony and the reception. The weather was perfect and with a locale like Brock House, it doesn’t take much to make it amazing! Throw in an amazing sunset and we can chalk this one up to a perfect day! Congrats you two! Can’t wait to get together once you get back from the honeymoon.

darien + neil | teahouse wedding vancouver

Saturday, June 19th, 2010

I got to spend my birthday at the fabulous wedding of Darien & Neil. It was a small, intimate affair with close family and friends that started off at the quaint Sylvia Hotel. We got the first glimpse of Darien’s flirty Melissa Sweet gown and the guys leaving for the ceremony on their bike. LOVED IT! After a small ceremony on overlooking the ocean, it was off to the limo to grab some bridal portraits around Stanley Park and then back to the reception at the lovely TeaHouse. Such a sweet day. Thanks guys for making my birthday extra special!

the new addition

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

It has been almost 2 weeks…2 weeks of sleepless nights and a whole lot of upheaval around the Gilmore house…nope…I didn’t have another baby…

finn1

Meet Finn…

The kids had been hinting. Who am I kidding? It had gone WAY past hinting. In fact it had moved into the realm of down right begging. For over a year we had been hearing about the wonderful things a dog would bring to the family. They had done their research and everytime we saw a puppy on a walk, which in the burbs is all the time, we were told that a puppy would be just what we needed to make our family complete. We had been able to put it off due to my allergies to dogs but when the illustrious Google informed them that there were several breeds that were hypoallergetic….we were done for.

To be honest, I was sold from day one but it took a little more convincing for hubby…not one who enjoys change or mess…he was going to be a tough nut to crack. I have always enjoyed a challenge and so the kids and I entered into campaign “puppy love” and slowly but surely lulled the opposition into submission.

So when I finally heard the definitive, all be it, hesitant word…YES, I set out to find the perfect puppy. It didn’t take long for me to fall in love with the little white furball and together hubby and I formulated a plan to surprise the kidlets. We continued on as if everything was status quo. “No guys, mommy has allergies” No guys, Daddy doesn’t want a dog” “sorry guys, we are just too busy and it would not be fair to the puppy” “A puppy? You guys can’t even make your beds!”

One morning I headed out to bring Finn (yes, we love our Canucks….and Glee) home while the kids were out with Daddy. I called about 5 minutes out from home and Daddy put on on his best act and informed the kids that I was coming home with a very important person to be interviewed so they would have to be on their best behaviour. He even said that he was going to video my interview so that we could remember this very important event. They bought it…hook line and sinker! Their eyes were as wide as saucers and after a few apprehensive glances at us “is this for real?” “seriously…he’s ours?” They finally decided that we weren’t playing a trick..Finn was here to stay. Yes, Christmas came in June to the Gilmore house.

Fast forward a week and a bit and I am in LOVE. Tired..but in LOVE. I will not call him my Furbaby. I did not birth him..he is a puppy. I will not dress him in silly outfits…they make dolls for that. He is however a part of our family, a companion, a best friend in the making.

And with that the Gilmore Clan is complete.

project empty bowl | vancouver event photography

Saturday, June 12th, 2010

Last night I had the extreme pleasure of photographing the annual Project Empty Bowl for A Lovin Spoonful. I photographed the event last year and when I got the call, I was more than happy to volunteer my services to help the worthy cause once again. This year the event was held at the Coast Coal Harbour Hotel and featured wonderful art from local artists for auction. It is heart warming to see so many people volunteer their time, their talents, and come out in support of this cause. It was a fabulous night of great people, wonderful food, and I even got another gorgeous handcrafted bowl to add to my collection.

candice + brian | vancouver club wedding

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

Saturday marked the amazing wedding of Candice & Brian.  Currently the two live in New York so I had not yet had the opportunity to meet them prior to the big day.   I can’t tell you how big the smile was on my face when we arrived at the Fairmont to shoot the getting ready photos of Candice.  WOW!  She was so beautiful and with her Jimmy Choo’s, Cymbeline Gown, and diamonds a-plenty….I knew this was going to be a good day.  The day was perfectly organized by Angela Girard of Reflection Events and made complete by fabulous floral by Flower Factory and a alomst to good to eat cake by BC cakes.  Did I mention how fab the food was at the Vancouver Club?  Well…it was awesome!

Everything about the day was just so great and Brian and Candice could not have been nicer people if they tried.  I think I like New York even more if there are more people like them living there!  Congrats you guys on what was an epic day!

jennifer + steve | terminal city club wedding

Sunday, June 6th, 2010

Friday was the first of two weddings this weekend for Gabrielle & I. We met up with the always stunning Jen for some getting ready shots and then we set up a “first meeting” for the two since we would be doing the bridal photos prior to the ceremony. We were a little worried about weather so we set our meet point at a locale that had some cover just be safe but we had nothing to worry about…the weather was perfect!

After the first meet it was off to granville island for the bridal party. What an awesome wedding party these two had! Session completed, it was downtown to the AMAZING Terminal City Club for the ceremony and reception. With stunning floral by Evan from Flowerz, yummy delights from the culinary team and TCC, and the great sounds from Mark at Absolute DJ, the night was complete….
